I received my B.S. in Statistics from Renmin University of China in 2023 and my M.A. in Biostatistics from UC Berkeley in 2025, where I am now a Ph.D. candidate advised by Dr. Rasmus Nielsen, with a Designated Emphasis in Computational and Genomic Biology. My research lies at the intersection of statistical genetics, machine learning, and evolutionary biology, with a focus on scalable inference. Current projects include (1) STEM-LM, a spatio-temporal masked language model for joint species distribution modeling, and (2) representation learning for quantitative and evolutionary genetics.My earlier work developed Local MCMC algorithms for morphological evolution on phylogenies and statistical methods for estimating effective population size from Ancestral Recombination Graphs. More broadly, I am interested in bringing deep learning architectures and high-performance computing to bear on problems in population genetics and ecology. I am also a Guest Researcher at the Pioneer Centre for AI and the Globe Institute at the University of Copenhagen.
